It's a little difficult to see but that white mark and tire mark in the
photo is around 13 feet long (4 meters) and what cause that gash is
my rear axle nut. i got my bike fired up this week and took it for its first ride
very nice!! well outside the shop i was fine tuning the carb when
the bike slipped into gear and took off. i grabbed the bars and wrestled
her to the ground but not before missing the metal bar, my car and
smashing into the rolling cart and the wall, landing on her side with the
exposed clutch cutting a circle in the concrete.
Luckily there was only minor damage, a few mm shaved off
the axle nut, a ding on the bottom of the primary cover,
tiny scratch on the frame, scraped a little chrome off the peg,
bent the clutch pedal and a small dent in the headlight.
Now how did this happen?? well all kinds of theories were
presented by myself and friends, until i remembered a story
a good friend of mine JR told me at Mooneyes this weekend,
about his tranny lid being built backwards. Meaning that it is one up
and three down and sure enough i was blessed with the same.
I was stuck somewhere between 3 and 4 in no-mans land....
